Phishing and Email Scams

Please be alert as there have been several phishing emails that have gone out recently.  The Southeast District is offering some reminders and tips for how to spot phishing, or scam emails. 

1. Anyone from the Southeast District or Conference office will never ever ask you to buy gift cards on our behalf. If you get this request, do not respond. It is a scam. Flag the email as spam and delete. 
2. Emails from the Southeast District will only come from our official @moumethodist.org account. The only exception to that are emails  that come from our email service and the lconley.missouri@brtapp.com or brhodes.missouri@brtapp.com. or southeast.missouri@brtapp.com.  If you get an email from a Gmail account or any other service, do not respond. It is likely a scam.
3. When in doubt, or if you have any questions on an email you received, please call the office at 573-334-8723 to double check the authenticity of the email you receive
